Haimchar upazila ( Chandpur district ) area: 174.49 sq km Location: 23 ° 00 'to 23 ° 10' north latitudes and 90 ° 32' to 90 ° 42' east longitude. Boundary: Chandpur Sadar and Bhedarganj upazilas on the north, Hijla upazila on the south, Faridganj and Raipur upazilas on the east, Gonsairhat upazila on the west.

Population 125108; Male 63446, Female 61662 Muslim 119146, Hindu 5958 and others 4.

Water bodies main river: Meghna

Haimchar Thana was formed in 1976 and it was turned into an upazila in 1984.

All the unions of the upazila under rural electrification net-work. However 15% (town 15.86% and rural 14.88%) have access to electricity.

Drink water source tube tubing 78.66%, tap 0.57%, pond 13.39% and others 7.38%.

The sanitation system is 39% households (49.31% in the city and 37.56% in the village) and 51.8% (45.52% in urban and 52.71% of the villages) use sanitary latrines in the upazila. However, 9.2% (5.38% in town and 9.73% in rural) have no latrine facilities.
